Promoting Wellness: A Body/Mind/Spirit Approach to Mental Health

Lecture: Introduction to the Haven Model of Personal Development

The Haven philosophy is that "human beings can best realize their full potential by embracing the principles of self-responsibility and wholesome relationship with others and the world around them" and it "promotes a society where human beings are fully present and alive." The Haven's integrative body/mind/spirit approach combines cognitive verbal techniques with breath and bodywork methods, and is used in working with individuals to promote mental and emotional health. 

Core themes include: Self- discovery/Awareness, Body, Breath and Energy, Interpersonal Communications, Relationships, Life Issues, Sexuality, Creative Expression, Children and Teenagers, and Counseling Skills Development. 

Workshop: Promoting Wellness Body/Mind/Spirit Approach to Mental Health  

November 1 – 4, 9:30am - 4:00pm 
Hellaby Hall, 4th and Elliott St. 

This experiential workshop is for health and social service workers, counselors and those interested in personal development. It will provide participants with tools that can be used for self-care and for working with individuals in emotional distress. Topics include: Breath and Bodywork, Communication, Anger, Boundaries, Self-hate and Self-compassion, and Attunement. A variety of techniques will be used that can heal and shift behavioural patterns on a deep, profound level: group exercises, visualizations, movement, gestalt and different forms of breathwork and bodywork.
